Is this tender right for you?

Ten quick questions. You’ll see what’s in your favour, what needs fixing first, and anything that would stop you at the selection stage. About two minutes, and nothing is sent to us unless you choose to send it.

You do not need the tender documents to do this. Every question is about your own business, except the contract value, which is in the public notice, and we fill that in for you if you arrive from the tender search.

01Which sector is the tender in?
02What is the contract worth?

It’s in the notice or the specification. Leave it blank if the buyer hasn’t said.

03What was your turnover in your last filed accounts?

Buyers check the figure at Companies House or the Charity Commission, so use the filed number, not this year’s forecast. No filed accounts yet? Enter 0. Turnover is one way to show financial standing, not the only one.

04Your rating, licence or accreditation

Pick a sector above and the right question appears here.

05Does your insurance match the levels the tender asks for?

Employer’s, public and professional liability. The levels are usually in the selection questionnaire or the draft contract.

06Can you deliver in the contract area from day one?
07Have you delivered something similar in the last three years?

Similar service, with a client who would give you a reference.

08How long until the deadline?
09Are your policies, accounts and certificates up to date?

Dated, signed, reviewed in the last year, and in date on the submission deadline.

10How many lots are you thinking of bidding for?

Remembered answers stay in your own browser. We never see them unless you send us your result.

Plain English

Four kinds of notice, and what each one means for you.

Tender

One contract, one deadline. Miss it and the chance has gone until the contract is re-let, often years from now.

Framework

A list of approved providers. Getting on it doesn’t guarantee work: contracts are “called off” later, often in ranked order.

Open to join

A DPS, provider list or open framework that reopens. If this round is too tight, prepare properly for the next one.

Market engagement

The buyer is asking questions before they tender. No contract yet, but responding gets you known and can shape the spec.
