Fernhill Bakehouse
An independent bakery. Built around one action: reserve a loaf before it sells out. Wholesale enquiry route kept separate from retail so neither audience gets the wrong page.

Responsive, findable, and built around the one action you want a visitor to take.
Process
We work remotely, so everything runs over calls and a shared folder. Add time only if you need photography arranged.
Who buys from you, what they type into Google, what your competitors rank for, and what the single most valuable action on the site is: a call, a booking, a quote request. Everything else is built around that.
Sitemap, page-by-page outline, then the words. We write copy as standard on full builds because design around placeholder text produces a site that looks fine and says nothing.
Two directions for the homepage, you pick one, we build the rest around it. Working in your existing brand if you have one you like, we won't talk you into a rebrand you didn't ask for.
Hand-built for speed rather than assembled from a page builder. Tested on real phones, on slow connections, with a keyboard, and with a screen reader.
Domain, SSL, redirects from the old site so you don't lose search rankings, Search Console and analytics connected, and a walkthrough recording so you can edit it yourself.
Included as standard
Page titles, meta descriptions, heading hierarchy, structured data, XML sitemap, robots.txt, and redirects mapped from your old URLs.
Over half your visitors are on a phone, often on patchy data. We test on actual devices, not just a narrowed browser window.
Contrast, keyboard navigation, focus states, alt text, form labels. Increasingly a legal expectation, and always a commercial one.
Enquiry forms tested end to end, with spam filtering, and a confirmation so the sender knows it worked. Silently broken forms are depressingly common.
Privacy policy, cookie notice and consent banner drafted to UK GDPR expectations. Required the moment a form collects a name and email.
Domain, hosting and every login in your name. If you leave, you take the site. We keep no hostage.
Example designs
Two concept designs, not client projects. One sells pastries to walk-in customers. One sells cleaning contracts to facilities managers. Same discipline, completely different shape.

Website
A B2B services site where the quote form sits in the hero rather than three scrolls down. Credentials shown as badges because that is what a facilities manager checks first.

Yes. We set you up with whatever editing route suits: a lightweight CMS if you'll be publishing regularly, or direct file access if it's a brochure site that rarely changes. You get a recorded walkthrough either way.
Included in the first year, in your name, on a host we'll name up front. Typically £0 to £8 a month afterwards depending on what the site does. We don't mark hosting up.
Small catalogues, yes. If you're running hundreds of SKUs with stock sync and multi-channel selling, you want a Shopify specialist and we'll say so.
Honestly: months, not weeks, and it depends entirely on your market. We build the technical foundations properly, which is necessary but not sufficient. Anyone promising you page one by a date is guessing.
Tell us what your business does and who buys from you. We'll come back with a fixed price and a realistic timeline.
